The Enemy

Here they come again, invading my space. Invading *our* space. We need to be ever watchful, for some of them are really dangerous. They are filthy, and many carry diseases. Some are downright repugnant, whereas others may look harmless to the unexperienced or the naive, but if left unchecked will overwhelm you with their sheer numbers. Some will even destroy the place where you live. Some are considered useful, but technology has developed the capability to replace them. This particular kind is very aggressive, and if you come near will attack you in droves and even kill you. I wonder why we haven't managed to get rid at least of the worse kinds after all these years. Maybe we aren't trying hard enough. The methods for exterminating them are imperfect, and usually will harm us while leaving their job incomplete. Some people try to live with them, but I know I cannot. I am afraid they will eventually prevail, and inherit the Earth. Ants, termites, ticks, bees, flies, mosquitoes, roaches: these are the creatures I am talking about. We call them bugs, but I'm sure if they could speak they would say: "No, you're the bug. We're the feature."
